Ziigmund You Make Me Sick

I came accross this hand from the $300/$600 Pot Limit Omaha game on Full Tilt Poker.  Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies was playing against Cole South for a massive pot and made one seriously HERIOC call.  I don’t know how he makes this call

According to one railbird, Ziigmund wrote in the chat: “You have 45 or 56, so im gonna call u with this” before turning over just a pair of 8′s.

Fortunately for him it paid off big this time and he raked in a $240k+ pot.

I think this image pretty much says it all…

Durrrr vs. Sammy George – Sick Bluff

Here is a hand from Tom “durrrr” Dwan‘s Million Dollar Challenge (Sponsored by Full Tilt Poker) where Dwan lays down a sick beat on Sammy George with poker’s worst hand: 72 offsuit.  Dwan even starts the hand off by telling George that he is holding a 72.  Prior to the game starting, the two made a side bet that if anyone won a hand from the other while holding a 72 the other would have to pay the winner $10k.  So, in an attempt to make an easy 10k Dwan put almost half a million dollars on the line… without giving too much away, check out the video here:

Sammy George never recovered from this hand, and in the end lost a total of $750,000 to Durrrr.

Brian Hastings Crushes Isildur1

Isildur1 has been all over the place for the past few months on Full Tilt Poker.  From nothing to over 5 million, back to nothing, up over 4 million and down yet again, his run has been one of the most entertaining runs in Full Tilt Poker history.

brian-hastingsThis past weekend Isildur1 was back at the tables after losing back the over $5 Million that he had made in a short period of time at the high stakes tables (the majority being from Tom “durrrr” Dwan).  He quickly went up over $4 Million dollars in one of the biggest sessions ever played at Full Tilt Poker.  After crushing several big players (including Ziigmund for about $2 Million), he sat at 4 $500/$1000 PLO tables with Full Tilt pro, Brian Hastings (see image).  Hastings is not known for playing at these levels but must have been feeling lucky that day and took on Isildur1 who had been killing everyone else.  Hastings quickly went down about $700,000 but was determined to stick it out for a bit longer.  Hastings went on one of the best runs of cards ever and clawed back an incredible $4,206,960 in 2,858 hands!

At one point during the session when Hastings what at his highest amount he let Isildur1 know that he was getting tired and would need to go soon.  Isildur1 was not impressed and posted the following in the chat:

Isildur1: ??????????
Brian Hastings: getting very tired…
Brian Hastings: i feel bad quitting tho
Brian Hastings: would be be cool w/ playing someone else?
Isildur1: just f off
Isildur1: wåfä’qqqqqqqnhjwe4nm
Isildur1: dW
Isildur1: GFE4¨ÅN,K N,KN,KN,KN,KN,KN,KN,KN,KN,KN,K N,KN,KN,K3
Isildur1: Q
Isildur1: u know how lucky u are ?
Brian Hastings: yes i know
Isildur1: i can promise this is the worst
Brian Hastings: ill give you 30 more min if you want
Isildur1: luck anyone had
Brian Hastings: but im rly tired
Isildur1: k 30 mins more
Isildur1: take my last $$
Isildur1: i dont want it

They ended up playing for about another hour and in the end Hastings was up just shy of $4 Million Dollars.  Isildur1 is currently down about $1.6 Million since the start of his run back in September.

Patrick Antonius 1.3 Million Dollar Pot

Last week we wrote about an $878k pot which was at the time the biggest pot ever for online poker.  Well, not even a day later this amount was crushed between the same 2 players: Patrik Antonius (Full Tilt Poker Pro) and Isildur1.  Yet again the two were at it on the high stakes omaha tables at Full Tilt Poker the very next night playing some $500/$1000.

At the beginning of the hand Antonius had approximately $1.2 Million dollars on the table, and Isildur1 was sitting with $678k.  The two quickly raised up the pot preflop as they usually do to approximately $160k.  The flop fell 4 5 2 rainbow.  Antonius led out with a bet of $91,000 (holding AKK3 – having the low straight) which was quickly raised by Isildur1 to $435k.  Antonius came over the top again putting Isildur1 all-in and a total of $1,356,947 in the pot.  Isildur1 was on a huge straight wrap holding 6789.  The turn came 5 reducing Isildur1′s odds, then a 9 on the river giving Antonius the best hand and the massive pot.

You can watch a brief video of the hand over at HighStakesDB.

All I have to say is these guys make me sick.  GG both of you.

Largest Pot in Online Poker New Record

UPDATE: 1 day later this record was shattered.  See here for details.

Earlier this morning the largest pot in online poker record was broken by Patrik Antonius and Viktor “Isildur1” Blom (a player we wrote about yesterday) on the $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha tables at Full Tilt Poker.  The two had been going at it for quite some time with many prior pots reaching well over $100k, then this happened:

Isildur1 $450,459.50 posts $500
Patrik Antonius $439,479.5 posts $1000

Isildur1 raises to $3k
Patrik Antonius calls $3k

Flop

Patrik Antonius checks
Isildur1 bets $5k
Patrik Antonius CR to $21k
Isildur1 calls

Turn

Patrik Antonius bets $48k
Isildur1 raises to $192k
Patrik Antonius goes all in $415,479.50
Isildur1 calls

River

Dealer: Isildur1 has 15 seconds left to act
Dealer: Patrik Antonius shows:

Dealer: Isildur1 shows:

Dealer: Patrik Antonius shows a straight, Nine high
Dealer: Isildur1 shows two pair, Aces and Queens
Dealer: Patrik Antonius wins the pot ($878,958.50) with a straight, Nine high

As you can see from the hand history above, Isildur1 started off with a great starting hand, but completely ignored the flush draw on the board.  When he hit his 2nd pair on the turn, he continued to risk his entire stack against a player that didn’t look like they were going anywhere.  Sure, he could have hit a straight or boat on the river, but Patrik could have already had a much stronger hand, or way more outs like he did.  I really think Isildur1 needs to take some time to learn Omaha a bit better before risking millions of dollars, because any decent omaha player would not have played the hand like this and would have controlled the pot size a lot better (especially when you are drawing to few outs).

By the end of the night, Patrik Antonius was up almost $3 Million in a 24 hour period (most of which was won from Isildur1 who was down roughly $2.5 Million).  Here is a great shot of Patrik sitting at the table with over $1.5 Million in cash on the table at FullTiltPoker.com:
