Jeff Madsen Takes Crazy Prop Bet

Poker professionals probably get tired of betting at the tables all the time. That could be the reason why so many of them accept prop bets of the craziest kind. Full Tilt poker professional Jeff Madsen is due to start fulfilling the latest prop bet that he has undertaken. In his twitter message he wrote “Just accepted a sick prop bet: I have to move to Israel until the world series, no outside contact with friends no cell phone, etc. 50k bet.”

Since Madsen has to be back in circulation on May 28, when the WSOP begins, he will be starting his exile on April 15. This will allow for the required six weeks. He can spend time on the beach in Tel Aviv or do whatever tourists do in Israel, but he cannot contact any of his friends. Most poker professionals keep the prop bets between themselves and this is another reason why this particular prop bet is crazy. Madsen accepted the challenge from a man he just met at a charity poker tournament. Madsen was not acquainted with this man, known to the world as of now only as Manny B, earlier. But Manny knew a lot about Madsen, especially about the prop bets that the poker pro had accepted in the past. So he proposed this bet and said he is willing to pay $50,000 if Madsen can fulfill the terms. Madsen accepted and will soon be heading for Tel Aviv. Manny is apparently willing to accept Madsen’s word that he has honored the terms.

Madsen is good friends with Gavin Smith and Joe Sebok, who are considered masters of prop bets and their effect has rubbed off on Madsen. In 2007 Madsen lost a prop bet to Smith and had to play the WSOP wearing a jester’s costume while Smith played in a king’s robe and crown. Losing another prop bet against Smith, Madsen had to wear a Gavin Smith face tattoo. But this is one prop bet Madsen is hell bent on winning. And despite what this isolation may do to spoil his readiness for WSOP, Madsen is confident that he will stick around in Tel Aviv for the full six weeks.
