Patrik Antonius Accepts Dwan’s Million Dollar Challenge

The start of the New Year seen Tom ‘durrr’ Dwan put up one of the biggest poker challenges the industry has seen todate. He has stated that he’s willing to put up $1.50 million to anyone’s $500K if that player could beat him over a spread of 50,000 hands playing four tables of Omaha or Holdem. The major poker forums went nuts with posts of which player has +EV over Dwan and who will accept  Dwan’s million dollar challenge.

Earlier this week Phil Ivey accepted the offer on the PokerRoad.com and so has Antonius who were both two of the top players the poker forums were hoping to see. Antonius discussed Durrs challenge with CP saying that he hasn’t actually figured out how long this challenge will take, probably a few months or so but if he is down a few million he will not be quitting. He will play till the end.

When asked which game he will pick against Dwan,

“I think I’m going to pick PLO. I just have more experience from that game. The funny thing is, I think I’ve done better against Tom in no-limit hold’em heads up, but I think I have a better chance in PLO. It’s very hard to have a player drawing very, very thin. The fact that he’s offering $1.5 million against $500,000… I think PLO is a smarter choice probably. But I don’t really mind. My no-limit hold’em game is very good at the moment.”

For those who haven’t been following Dwan’s poker challenge here are the rules or if can watch the interview with Dwan and CardPlayer  here;

“I’m making this heads-up challenge to the world. Anyone can accept. Four tables, minimum of $200/$400, and I’ll put up $1.5 million to their $500,000. We play 50,000 hands minimum and if they end up a dollar after rake they keep the side money or whatever. So basically, if you and I played and you won a dollar, you would get my $1.5 million and if I won a dollar I would win your $500,000. So I’m giving a million dollars free if anyone thinks they can do it.”

Durrrr’s added stipulations:

1) 200-400min (nl/plo obv)
2) can change tables anytime eff stacks are >250bb
3) have to reload when stacks are <75bb
4) $$ won in the challenge is kept obv (if i win 750k in poker, i get that PLUS your 500k- if i lose 750k in poker you get 2.25m total).
5) same stakes the whole time
6) not open to phil galfond
