The Unabomber to Break Zimbler’s Record

Paul Zimbler holds the world record for Endurance Poker having played a total of 74 hours and 20 minutes non stop. Now Phil “The Unabomber” Laak will take a shot at breaking the record. His attempt will begin on June 2 at the Bellagio Poker Room in Las Vegas. Paul Zimbler had set the record in the fall of 2009. He played against the best of poker pros and finally succumbed to Mike “the Mouth” Matusow. He had to be carried out because he had fainted from exhaustion.

Only someone as eccentric as Laak will attempt this feat. His propensity for prop bets is well known. Besides, people have done crazier things to get into the Guinness’ Book of World Records. But Laak has another reason for trying to break the record. Through this attempt he will be contributing to Camp Sunshine, which is a not for profit organization that takes care of children who suffer from life threatening illnesses. Camp Sunshine assists the child and the family to cope with the illness both emotionally and financially. Half of Laak’s winnings will go to Camp Sunshine. The other half will be his along with the fame and bragging rights. But he has to break the record first.

Laak said, “I have played many enduro sessions of poker, but never anything of this magnitude. I know this will test my limits but I love a good challenge and am excited to be trying to beat this record in Vegas’ top poker room.” Apart from his poker skills Laak is known for wearing a hooded sweatshirt in live tournaments and his girl friend, poker babe Jennifer Tilly.
