Kentucky Attempts to Gain Control of Online Gambling Sites

Breaking news today – Governor of Kentucky, Steve Beshears is trying to abuse his powers and “take control” of websites that allow users to place bets. This list of 114 domains favorites like Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars and if enacted, spells the end for Kentucky poker players wishing to play poker online.

The bigger news related to this (although not as widely reported) is the discovery that the Internets are actually used by people in Kentucky. For many years Kentucky is has been home to moon shiners and bootleggers. To actually have people that are on the Internets though? Until today, this would have been unheard of.

We were able to track down one of these “Internet users” from Kentucky today as she left the local feed store. As she loaded the burlap sacks of chicken food into her rusty pick up truck, we asked her what she thought of the Governor trying to pull such a stunt. “I ain’t one to say much about our fine Guverner but I think he’s got every damn right to keep people off these ‘machines’ and in the fields a’plowin. If these keeds are in their rooms with the doors shut playin’ poker, who’s gonna take care of the cows, chickens, and pull crops?”

Our thoughts exactly, Ma’am.
