Party Gaming and BWIN to Merge?

party-bwin-mergeAccording to several sources, Party Gaming and BWIN are currently in talks of merging their companies together.  If the 2 do merge together, the new group would be worth approximately 2 Billion Pounds.

Stories were first released last week in The Times and The Sunday Times stating that the 2 companies are currently in merger talks.  This sent the stock price on each of the companies up bringing their market values to 1.3 Billion for BWIN and 1.1 Billion for Party Gaming.

According to eGamingReview, “BWIN AND PARTYGAMING have refused to confirm stories published in The Times and Sunday Times over the weekend that the two operators are in merger talks.”

A representive from Party Gaming told Reuters, “We don’t comment on rumor and speculation”.  This was backed by a BWIN representative who described the talks as “pure speculation”.

If the 2 do merge it would mean that 2 could have a combined bigger poker site with even better promotions than the to have now and I would suspect they would most likely use the Party Poker name.

This should be an interesting story as it unfolds as I suspect there will be many more large mergers of companies in the gambling industry going forward with the increased focus on government regulation around the world.
