Poker Acronyms
Poker players use a lot of acronyms to get their point accross. Many of these can be very confusing if you aren’t familiar with them.
VNH in poker is one of the most common poker acronyms that players can’t figure out. Lots of poker players often type vnh into the chat box after a hand. Unless you are familiar with all the acronyms, then it can be confusing to try and guess what they are saying. Here are some of the popular acronyms people use at the poker table:
vnh – If someone says “vnh” to you while playing poker, they are trying to say: “very nice hand”.
nh – Similar to vnh, except without “very”. This acronym simply means “nice hand”.

ai – Not used very much, but would mean “all in”.
aipf – All-in pre-flop
atc – any two cards
bb – Big Blind or Big Bet
boat – Full House
btw – By the Way
c-bet – Continuation Bet
CO – “Cut Off”. The position immediately to the right of the dealer
c/r – Check-Raise
EP – Early Position
EV – Expected Value
gg – This one is pretty common meaning “good game”.
FE – Fold Equity
FH – Full House
FL – Fixed Limit
fu – Self explanitory 
fwiw – For what it’s worth.
FYP – Fixed your post – more common on poker forums.
gg – Good Game
gl – Good Luck
GTD – Guaranteed – Typically for tournaments with a guaranteed prize pool.
HE – Hold Em
HU – Heads-up
HUD – Heads-up Display
iirc – If I remember correctly
imo – In My Opinion
imho – In my humble opinion
isd – Inside Straight Draw
itm – In the money
iyam – If you ask me
LAG – Loose agressive (player)
LAP – Loose passive (player)
LHE – Limit Hold’Em
LDO - Like Duh, Obviously
LP – Late Position
mbn – Again, you will typically see this after winning a hand where you got all your chips in behind. mbn stands for “must be nice”.
mhig – My hand is good
mhing – My hand is no good
MP – Mid Position
MTT – Multi-table Tournament
NL – No limit
nt – Nice Try
O8 – Omaha Hi/Lo
OP – Original Poster – Person who originally made a post on a forum.
oop – Out of Position
ootm – Out of the money
pf – Pre-flop
pfr – Pre-flop raiser
PL – Pot Limit
plo – Pot Limit Omaha
QFT – Quoted for truth
ROFL – Rolling on the floor laughing
roi – Return on Investment
ship it – This basically means that your opponent just won a pot and is saying to “ship” the pot his way, or give him your chips.
SNG – Sit n Go
STFU – Shut the **** up
STT – Single table tournament
TAG – Tight Agressive (player)
TL;DR – Too long, didn’t read (seen on forums)
tpbk – Top Pair Best Kicker
tpnk – Top Pair No Kicker
TY – Thank you
ularg – This is another form of venting for players. This means “unlucky and rigged game”.
UTG – Under the gun
VB – Value Bet
yplc – If you see this in the chat box after beating someone or sucking out in a hand, the player is trying to say “you play like crap”.
