Poker Players Banned For Winning Too Much
This story is one of the weirdest things I have ever heard of. Apparently the iPoker network has implemented a policy that fines sites on their network for winning too much! Really??? I was always under the impression that the goal of poker sites was to create winning players because the more rake they generate, the more money they make for the site they are playing on.
Victor Chandler poker was doing just that, breeding a large number of winning players, but due to heavy fines by the iPoker Network they were forced to close down several of these players accounts just last week.
In an email sent out to several of their “winning players” VC poker said:
“If you are not already aware, iPoker will be implementing a new policy in the New Year which will categorize players depending upon certain criteria. The new policy will impose penalties on card rooms that in essence have a high proportion of winning players in relation to losing players.”
“Regrettably, therefore, we are being forced to restrict a number of accounts in order to comply with the new policy and to avoid penalization by iPoker and it grieves me to inform you that we have no option for the time being other than to restrict the cash game stakes at which you play on Victor Chandler Poker.”
“In the meantime, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this action will cause but know that you can still play in tournaments and on any other of the Victor Chandler suite or products.”
iPoker’s reasoning for this new policy is rumoured to be that they claim the winning players are taking too much money out of the network with large withdrawals, thus taking this money out of circulation on the network. Others believe that the “fish” or losing players are getting tired of reloading and are starting to disappear to other sites.
Either way you look at it this move on iPoker’s behalf is unfair to players that have been loyal to their site. Why should winning players be penalized, and losing players be allowed to remain. It makes you think the network really wants you to lose!
Fortunately not all Poker Sites have started the year off bad. Pokerstars introduced their new VIP program which makes it easier for players to earn FPPs and more cashback. If you are a winning player on the iPoker network, watch out, you might be next!

WTF! There is enough controversy with online gaming. Why discourage winners this way? For a game based on psychological advantages, this is a huge mis-step.
