The US Economy, the UIGEA and President Obama
Over the last couple of years we have seen players and affiliates publish articles on why the UIGEA should be repealed and why the government should regulate online poker and gambling in general. We have seen everything from the PPA to iMEGA take their stance on Capitol Hill and the US courts, as well as online players send in letters to their congressman. For many they have hopes that once the new President of the United States, Barack Obama takes office Jan 20th, that he will hopefully regulate online poker after taking a look at the issues.
Earlier this week a US citizen posted on the change.gov website asking the soon to be President to regulate online poker, if not for any other reason than the tax dollars which could be generated by the multi-billion dollar industry. With these tax dollars they could save, or at least assist with the US Economy which is going through a year-long recession. It’s not just the US Economy, other countries around the world are also in financial crisis and while online poker may not be the most important issue for the current government, the economy is. Within hours over 30,000 people had voted up the message and it has become one of the hottest subjects on the change.gov website.
We at FuzionPoker.com believe that online gambling should be regulated and ask that you take a couple of minutes to register at Change.gov and let your voice be heard. Vote the article up and if you want leave a comment.
