Dream Team Poker – Take a game that works and screw it up..

This picture has nothing to do with Dream Team Poker

In their ambitious bid to make tournament poker “more interesting” the folks at Dream Team Poker have managed to really muck things up. In a press release today (http://uk.sys-con.com/node/707058) they’ve announced that their new brand of tournament poker is coming to the Hard Rock Casino in Vegas. Excited? I didn’t think so.

While reading the long-winded press release you may be asking yourself, “what in the hell are they talking about”? We asked the same question because essentially what the press release and their website say is that, “We have created a new poker tournament model that will not only entice new players to join the game, but also offer a structured and innovative system for host properties to reach a new market segment. We look forward to the success of this introductory tournament and future partnerships as we expand the Dream Team Poker(TM) concept to additional markets.”

It goes on to mention something about Social Networking and Facebook, which is what every “new” concept nowadays mentions in a bid to sound cool. After looking at the buy-in of $1,000 and the confusing rules for “team play” in tournaments, I think I’ll stick to playing at Full Tilt and Poker Stars. After all, the last time I checked “team play” in a tournament is called “collusion”, which is a great way to get kicked out of the place.
