Howard Lederer Loses bid to win WSOPE Bracelet – Gains More Weight
The noticeably, um, rounder, Howard Lederer had a shot at winning his first WSOPE bracelet this week. Going into the final table, the one time chip leader was a strong favorite to win the event. However, the deck went cold for Lederer for an extended period of time and he was not able to recover.
After losing a massive Razz hand to Ivo Donev he turned in the next round and lost a monster stack to Sherkhan Fernood in Stud: With the Bring-In showing a 5h Lederer saw Farnood complete with the 9c door card. Donev folded and it was heads up with Lederer and Farnood. After seeing the Ah on fourth street Farnood bet out and Lederer called with the 3s. Come sixth street with his cards showing 9c Ah Jh 2d Farnood checked, Lederer bet and was called. After both players checked the final round Lederer grimaced and mucked after Farnood showed his single pair of 8’s. A few hands later Lederer was out of the tournament on an unremarkable hand.
After his cash for £30,250 Lederer consoled himself with a phone call to his sister Annie and found a local bakery willing to take poker chips for payment on several bags of donuts.
