Potripper’s Dad Wins WSOP Event #11 Eliminating Greg Mueller

The $5,000 NLHE Shoot Event#11 came to a close late last night with Phil Tom taking home a first place finish and a coveted WSOP bracelet. Phil Tom beat out a field of 3600 players and defeated Greg Muller who again placed second for the second year in a row.

What makes this event a little more newsworthy than the others is who the winner of the event is related to. Phil Tom is none other than the father of Scott Tom, better known to the online community as Potripper, the infamous Superuser at Absolute Poker.

Confirmation of the relation was posted on 2+2 with a member who apparently was seated at the same table stating “It is in fact Scott Tom’s dad. He was on my left for a second and he introduced himself to howard lederer and I caught his name and asked him about it. When he said he was I told my buddy who was sitting at the other end of the table who said “oh, so that’s the dad of the guy who robbed us of all that money, SWEET!” It was pure gold.”

According to absolutedectives.com, Phil Scott was one of the original backers of Absolute Poker back in 2003. Scott Tom, thanks to Daddy was the CEO of the company, and as of late last year was known as the guy who literally stole millions from the players at AP by having the ability to see the hole cards of his opponents. The site also states that the IP address used for one of the “superuser accounts” logged in from the home of Scott Tom and was using the Potripper account. Scott Tom is alleged to have owned the SteamRoller account, which is also another user suspected of stealing from the players.

What makes this even better is CardPlayer who is notorious for their digs in the poker world neglected to publish the relation between the two. Instead their reporter released this ‘According to an onlooker, Tom played “absolutely ideal poker,” and the shootout format suited his strengths. The railbird continued with, “his raises and reraises worked so often, it was almost as if he could see everyone’s cards.”, which is being poked at for their ties with both AP and UB. There is no mention if Scott is celebrating his dad’s win although we are quite sure he won’t be seen at any of these events.

Just when we thought the WSOP wouldn’t deliver any surprises this year
