Matusow “The Mouth” to Give Poker Lessons
Mike Matusow has earned so much notoriety talking trash at poker tables that he has been given then the name of “The Mouth”. It is true that he is the dean of Deep Stacks University, which is a professional online poker training website and it is true that he has written books on poker and has created instruction videos. Yet it is difficult to imagine him live lessons to poker newbies.
That is exactly what Mike “The Mouth” Matusow will be doing. He will hold a special three-hour poker training class from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 30, in the Poker Room at Pala Casino Spa & Resort. Each of the learners will have to pay an entry fee of $295, but will definitely get more than their money’s worth. Heading the list of extras is a free entry to a satellite qualifying tournament for Pala’s Deep Stack Classic III tournament. The satellite tournament will be held immediately after the class. The Deep Stack event will be held on May 1 at 11 a.m. The second extra will be a copy of Matusow’s latest poker book “Check Raising the Devil. Those who want Matusow to personally sign a copy of the book will have to come to the Poker Room at Pala Casino next morning. Matusow will conduct a book signing before the Deep Stack poker tournament. The rookies may be hoping to hear some of Matusow’s trash talk as well. On the poker front Matusow will teach winning strategies for poker tournaments as well as cash games and will provide students a one-on-one poker analysis at the tables.
What will Matusow get from this poker classes event? April 30 is Matusow’s birthday and he will be turning 42. Maybe he feels that it is time to start giving back to the poker world. Maybe he is gunning for some word of mouth publicity for his new book. Though judging by the messages posted on his Twitter account fans are already lining up for the book. One asked him how he could purchase it online from Matusow’s web site. Another Tweeted, “Hooray for Mike! Just got your book.” A third had already read it and said it was great. However Tracie had a complaint. She posted, “I have never gotten a reply from you mike and I even bought your book”.
