2009 WSOP November 9

The World Series of Poker Main Event is finally down to just 1 table at the 2009 WSOP.  There are the players that will be playing for the bulk portion of the over $61 MILLION PRIZEPOOL.  First place will be walking away with $8,546,435 and a ton of sponsorship offers I am sure (unless they are already signed).  Without further adieu, I present you with your November 9:

november-nine-wsop

Seat 1: Darvin Moon – 58,930,000
Seat 2: James Akenhead – 6,800,000
Seat 3: Phil Ivey – 9,765,000
Seat 4: Kevin Schaffel – 12,390,000
Seat 5: Steven Begleiter – 29,885,000
Seat 6: Eric Buchman – 34,800,000
Seat 7: Joe Cada – 13,215,000
Seat 8: Antoine Saout – 9,500,000
Seat 9: Jeff Shulman – 19,580,000

bodog-wsop-bettingAs you can see from above, Darvin Moon has a commanding chip lead and is probably a big favourite.  Though, 1 double up by a couple of his opponents and the field will be quite evened out once again.  Moon qualified for the WSOP on a $130 Satellite at his local casino.  He was a part-time poker player before playing in the WSOP this year, but I expect regardless of how he finishes he will be playing a lot more of this game in the future.

Jeff Shulman is the editor of CardPlayer.  He said earlier this week that if he won the main event he would throw the bracelet in the garbage because the WSOP “treats his magazine unfairly”.  Can somebody get this baby a diaper change.

Also, if you didn’t notice, PHIL IVEY is in that list!!!  Ivey is regarded of one of the best poker players in the world and has already won 2 bracelets at this year’s WSOP.  Don’t expect him to go down easy!

Other than that, most of the names on the list don’t have too much info to report. More info to follow I am sure.

Here is a list of how the payouts will go depending on how they finish:

1st – $8,546,435
2nd – $5,182,601
3rd – $3,479,485
4th – $2,502,787
5th – $1,953,395
6th – $1,587,133
7th – $1,404,002
8th – $1,300,228
9th – $1,263,602

    @Oly

You are dumb, why would they play in the dinky ass building with no exposure? WSOP is mentally and physically damaging. They wait till November to create suspense, and a anticipated break.
    Your a retard for posting.

Speaking of morons, retards, and sub-education: This is only the 2nd WSOP where the final table is pushed into November. The exposure is good, for the players-but it does kill the momentum of the game. This now gives players an opportunity to study their opponents and prepare a strategy rather than letting the game play out it’s natural course. I don’t like it-I think it’s wrong….but I won’t be complaining next year when you’re posting MY name in that list!
Phil Ivey will not win, but Darvin Moon isn’t winning either-my $ is on Steven Begleiter, based on absolutely nothing! Welcome to the wonderful world of poker!

    I agree save money.
With a guy like Phil Ivey who is a true professional poker player, not a self labeled,
home game wrecking tea-bag like Schulman or Bachman.
I don’t think he’s gonna pull this thing off, but he’s the only player I believe will make a move before he gets caught with his hand in the “chip jar” like he has the past 5 years.
    go pro or go home!

Ivey would be the favorite if the chips were even, but the reality is he has to play perfect and then have his hands hold up. We all know that AA can get cracked with anything when you’re all in pre-flop.

I wish that they would add to the standings of great players if they made mistakes of not. Its all based on if they win a tournament. That’s not a real barometer.

If a guy traps a person with AA pre-flop to call, but gets sucked out on on the river. Why should that hurt his ranking and help the donkeys ranking if he cashes higher. Poker is one of the few “sports” that playing better or perfect can mean nothing. This is why even though pokers players alliance hates to admit this that poker is gambling. The good players don’t gamble, that not so good, go all in whenever they can or all in on draws and say “lets gamble”

I predict Ivey goes out relatively early by making a correct play and read, but getting sucked out on. I have spoken

I just hope a jew wins so we can prove our superiority once again.
We are good with money, always will be because we are taught to lie, cheat and steal at a very early age by our religion.
Jeff Shulman is a punk bitch, he’s only there to steal.
Ivey is too stupid to win.

It’s possible that Moon will lose all his horseshoes by November 10…he freely admits he has been hitting everything. We all know that when you’re on a run like that…the simplest thing can change your run. We’ll see if he finishes as well as Dennis Phillips…It’s always fun to watch…I wish they would show more of the final table.

I like Moon to win. Even though he is the chip leader, he seems to be an underdog to most. He obviously said he was catching cards, but he also played those cards smart. All he really needs to do is play close to the vest and let some lower stack guys get knocked out. Even so, he is probably still a chip leader, or top 3 at that time. Then just needs a couple good hands. Don’t forget, NOBODY could get a read on the guy for nine days, so who’s to think they suddenly would at the final table. Plus, being a guy that plays weekend games for fun, he may not even have a read for anybody to ever pick up on. I think he backs his way into this thing. Plus, if Dennis Phillips was the “average guy”, Moon may out average him. He’s a logger and only got to the WSOP by winning a sat game, the second time he ever entered.

    You could be right…we’ll see…
Getting a hand is anybody’s fortune, but, getting that hand when someone else catches a hand so you can get paid off is something else…timing.

The two biggest donks have the monster stacks.
Darvin Moon actually admits that he has been a luckbox throughout the whole tournament but steven begleiter actually thinks he plays good. AQo calling all in for his tournament live with 60BB against KK and turn his A. Disgraceful

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IVEY WIN BUT IT TAKES A LOT OF LUCK TO WIN….UNLESS HE STARTS CATCHING CARDS AND TAKES DOWN A FEW BIG POTS AND KNOCKS OFF SOME OF THESE LUCKY DUDES HE IS NOT GOING TO WIN!!!! GO PHIL!!!! BEAR STEARNS…. THIS GUY SHOULD LOSE JUST FOR THE MORALITY OF IT ALL… HIS COMPANY IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST REASONS OUR ECONOMY IS IN THE DUMPER…DARVIN MOON WHAT!!!! LUCK ALL THE WAY…BUT HE MIGHT WIN!! BIG CHIP STACK AND ALL..AKENHEAD IS THE SLEEPER..HE IS A GOOD PLAYER AND HAS A KNACK FOR MAKING HANDS.

I hope Darvin Moon has a nervous break down and comes in the casino with his chainsaw and goes on a kill crazy rampage. Or maybe he will bring in his wife/goat and lick its butt hole. Or maybe Barrack Obama will make gambling illegal and have the national guard shut down the game.

Another interesting night. Moon got the cards at the right time, but played them perfect when he did. There’s no doubt he has gotten lucky (at least the little bit that you saw on the broadcast). He slow played some good hands when the opponent thought he was an obvious leader in the hand. The last hand with the second best flush seems like an easy call, but there were a couple possible full house hands out there, and when the pot becomes $30 mil plus with his call, that has to be a butt puckerer.

The guy obviously isn’t the best player in the 9, no where close, but he has made some pretty professional calls, or maybe just lucky, on his hands. I’d love to see the guy win…just simply because he is a likable guy, seems to be pretty freaking honest (which isn’t good for poker but is good for life) and is another nobody that nobody would have ever expected to have a chance. As long as he doesn’t say “I can dodge bullets”….it’s good enough for me. Now all he has to do is survive with 30 percent of the chips.

I’d say the couple month layoff is the worst thing that could happen to him. The cards have to cool off during that time!

A chip and a chair, brother…you are the FXKING MAN!!!! Either way you look at it this is a HUGE victory for USA! I find it unusually hilarious, ironic, etc. that it took our illustrious government to “outlaw” on-line poker, before we would see an insurgence of American players dominating the WSOP final table! Congratulations all of you, and THANK YOU!! Good luck guys, you deserve every penny of the millions you will be basking in very soon!
