Day 2 Update from the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau
Of the original field of 538 entrants, 208 lucky players returned for Day 2 of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau event. The chip average as play began was 25,208. Anything but average were the players holding onto the top five chip count positions at the start of play, and they were Andre Wagner of Germany (109,700); Mark Walsh of Ireland (95,000); David Steicke of Hong Kong (87,700); Quinn Do of Korea (83.600) and Kofi Farkye of the US (78,700).
Team PokerStars Pros who made the cut were Chad Brown (40,600), Lee ‘Final Table’ Nelson (29,900), Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier (15,100), Isabelle ‘No Mercy’ Mercier (8200) and Joe Hachem (5500).
Play got off to a fast start when 47 players were eliminated in the first one hour level. Team PokerStars Pro Joe Hachem rode the roller coaster when he managed to double up twice within the opening minutes of the day but was eliminated when he ran up against Daisy Wain’s A-Q on a 10 high board with A-J in his hand.
A total of 17 players finished in the cash on Day 2 of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau. Team PokerStars Pro Lee Nelson finished 42nd and cashed $44,250 HKD. PokerStars sponsored player Emad Tahtouh finished 54th and cashed $37,930 HKD. 39 players are now through to Day 3 of APPT Macau with Edward Sabat of the US as the chip leader with 379,500 in chips. In second place is Charles Chua of Malaysia with 369,500 in chips.
