Hurrican Ike Destroys – Poker Game Continues
As the potentially deadly Hurricane Ike headed towards Texas millions of residents had left for higher ground, clogging the highways in the process. In the small town of DimWeed, Texas however there are a few folks who have no intention of heading out.
Dwayne “Bubba” Roberts (who was the stunt double for Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump) and his close circle of friends are going nowhere. Wrapped up in a serious game of poker for the last three days, the pals have vowed to stick around no matter what happens. Joining Dwayne is his cousin-turned common law wife Betty and a group of tourists who somehow found this home game; they would only provide first names to this reporter – Gank, Dutch, and Scott.
When asked why they would stay in the wake of such a vicious storm each offered up a different reason. Dutch says that he is stuck almost 44 dollars while Gank seems somewhat “impaired”, allegedly from a substance identified only as “420”. Scott says he’s the only one with a car and no one else is leaving “until I’m damn well ready to leave”.
