Jamie Gold Leaves Aced Poker

jamie-gold-acedJamie Gold, the 2006 World Series of Poker world champion has parted company with yet another online poker room.

The launch of a new site onto the Merge Gaming Network saw the birth of Aced Poker. With a large number of poker rooms already finding their home there, Aced had to move quick if they wanted to break way from the already large pack forming underneath the Merge name.

Knowing that they would have to compete with the likes of Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker, the two largest online poker rooms on the internet, they would have to get a well known celebrity poker player to put their name to the site in order to boost their reputation.

After consideration been made by the higher partners of the site, they agreed on 2006 World Series of Poker world champion Jamie Gold.

Jamie Gold was signed up to become the spokesperson for the site, with the site knowing that a name like his would attract players to the site alone.

The contract was only standing for a number of months, with Jamie Gold giving his notice to the site over what has been speculated financial differences between the professional and the site.

The issue was first brought to light with the removal of the Jamie Gold Bounty tournaments from the sites tournament schedule, causing speculation to be started about the reasoning surrounding the removal.

With Aced Poker now left with no celebrity spokesperson, questions and rumours were circulated around the poker community with Aced Poker declining to make an annoucement about the situation that was happening.

Now that the situation has been opened to the public, Gold’s management team have said that the contract was broken due to Aced Poker not filling their responsibilites financially to the professional.

The real reason has not been confirmed as yet as Aced Poker are considering making a legal suit against the player’s management team due to what they believe as slanderous comments been made towards the site.

This isn’t the first time that Gold has parted ways with an online poker room, starting out with Bodog Poker soon after his victory in the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event.

The contract at Bodog was cancelled due to legal issues surrounding the player, with the suit centred around if the player made a hand shake agreement with a friend, before his involvement in the 2006 World Series of Poker that made his name, agreeing to share his winnings from the tournament if he placed.

With Gold now from from his contract at Aced Poker, he has today signed up to Poker Icons, a poker agency, that he has agreed to let represent him.

Gold said “I’m very excited about joining Poker Icons. Their international presence and expertise in poker makes this relationship fit perfectly. I’m really looking forward to this partnership.” about his recent contract signing.

It seems that the fact that the players name for been the 2006 World Series of Poker world champion outweighs the fact that out of two of this contracts that he has signed in the last 3 years none of them have been seen out, wagering the question is this contract going to end up with a full term been completed or yet another contract been placed through the shredder in 3 months time?
