Nerd Poker is all the Rage in L.A.
Nerd Poker is the new socializing event for geeks in LA looking to score a new business relationship. Or perhaps just someone to cut into pieces with a virtual chainsaw in the game Gears of War. You see, Nerd Poker has nothing to do with the game we all love and enjoy. Rather, it’s the name that the founders felt would resonate among the their fellow nerd pals. I suppose it sounds better than “Nerds playing video games all night jacked up on Red Bull”.
Social gaming is not a new idea. In fact, it was card games such as poker that got people together at the kitchen table to enjoy a friendly game. There were no TV’s then much less Nintendo’s and PS3’s. The staff here at Fuzion Poker would rather them pick another name that doesn’t bring shame to the game we all love and play here.
Regardless it seems that Nerd Poker has gained some momentum and attracts other nerds who gather to play video games and do business deals. In fact, some major deals have gone down as a result of these events. Recently a deal was inked between a few nerds to do a new comic book based on the video game “Bionic Commando”. Perhaps a little more gratifying than taking down a big pot in Hold’em but for now, we will stick to playing at Full Tilt Poker.
