New Zealand Looks to Land on the Poker Map
SkyCity Entertainment Group, a public listed company in New Zealand is looking to draw global attention with their upcoming 1M Gaurantee SkyCity Festival of Poker. Tapping icons like Poker Stars Pros Joe Hachem and Greg Raymer to play in the tournament certainly helps. Of course, the million-dollar prize pool isn’t going to hurt their efforts either.
Kicking off on October 4th and running for another eight days, the event is sure to garner the attention of the poker world elite. This is the most recent event that SkyCity has launched to try and turn around their fortunes as traffic and game play at their location has dropped over the years.
It is interesting to note that despite the fact the Poker Stars EPT 1 Million Pound Showdown begins on October 5th, that SkyCity still claims to have two of Poker Stars most famous players playing at their event. One must assume that they plan on showing up for the Main Event, which actually begins on the 11th.
In the meantime take a look over at Poker Stars and see if Hachem or Raymer are playing any of the tables. Perhaps they’re warming up for a little Kiwi Poker!
