World Series of Poker Satellites 2009
Unless you’re killing the game odds are you won’t be playing in the 2009 World Series of Poker, unless your lucky enough to win a seat through a WSOP satellite or qualifier. Most players do not have the bankroll to hand over $10K to enter the main event. With the success of the 2008 World Series of Poker it’s expected that the number of players who qualify via an online satellite for the 2009 WSOP will increase significantly. Since we know players will be looking for the best possible deal to win their seat, we have created this page which will be dedicated for 2009 WSOP satellites and 2009 World Series of Poker qualifiers.
The 2009 World Series of Poker schedule was released showcasing 57 events in Las Vegas and includes a commemorative 40 year WSOP anniversary tournament plus 10 x $10,000 World Championship Events. Since the WSOP Schedule was just released many of the online poker sites are still putting their WSOP satellite packages together. We have emailed our managers for details and expect this to be released by the end of the month.
That said last year’s WSOP satellites and qualifiers seen record numbers of participants and with Pokerstars sending over 2,000 players alone more players qualified for a World Series of Poker event via an online satellite during that year than any other. Because of this and the interest shown in the final table delay, we expect the number of seats made available to be significantly higher.
We do know that Bodog Life Poker is running a handful of promotions and our manager has said that 11 players have won their Main Event package through that poker room already, however they could not release more details on future promotions. Below you will find a summary of the number of people who won their seat for the 2008 WSOP through an online satellite. As soon as we have more information it will be updated here.

- Full Tilt Poker – Over 1200 players won their trip to Vegas last year through Full Tilt Poker’s World Series of Poker satellites.

I asked Full Tilt (on 03/01/09) when they’d be starting their promotions, their response was a bit scary (indicating they may not bring them back):
“Our WSOP satellites were very popular, and they may return in the future. You can find out about all our current promotions here: http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/promotions.php”
I’m assuming they will return due to their popularity, but was hoping their response was going to include an early date in March and not “…and they mat return”.

Don’t worry Full Tilt will send players to the WSOP through satellites. They would be silly not especially when competing with Pokerstars.
